According to a recent report from Sky Italia, Manchester City are ready and willing to walk away from a potential deal that would see them sign defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
This decision comes in the wake of the news that Napoli have rejected City’s recent €65 million offer for him, with Pep Guardiola being unwilling to go any higher for him. The big problem is that Napoli certainly do value him higher than that, creating a stalemate between the two parties.
When you consider the circumstances surrounding the potential deal, it wouldn’t be too outlandish to picture a scenario in which nobody is able to buy Koulibaly due to a lack of finances.
On the flip side, Napoli may have to wake up and realise that they’re the ones who need to lower their expectations. If they don’t, then they can say goodbye to the possibility of reinvesting after Koulibaly actually leaves.
