Kramer inks new Bayer Leverkusen deal; Ji Dong-Won rejoins Augsburg

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at the BayArena.

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal at the BayArena.

The Germany international, who was a member of the DFB team’s World Cup winning squad in Brazil this past summer, has been recently linked with a move to Arsenal despite being on a season-long loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Kramer, now tied to the BayArena until the summer of 2019, is absolutely delighted with his new deal.

“After the talks with the leaders in Leverkusen I did not have to hesitate long to extend my contract there,” Kramer told the club’s official website.

“The total package with the team, coach and the club itself just fits. I have known Bayer since my youth, it was always my dream to make it there in the first team.

“This has been achieved through the detour of VfL Bochum and Borussia Monchengladbach and this is a great happiness for me.”

Kramer has scored two goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach this season.

Ji Dong-Won rejoins Augsburg

South Korea international forward Ji Dong-Won has left Borussia Dortmund in favour of rejoining Augsburg after just six months with the Bundesliga strugglers.

Ji, 23, made just five starts for Dortmund’s reserves this season, and failed to make a first-team appearance despite the club’s dismal start to the 2014/15 campaign.

“We would like to thank Dong-Won Ji for his efforts and wish him all the best for his future,” BVB sporting director Michael Zorc told bvb.de.

Meanwhile, Ji is happy to be back at the SGL Arena.

“I am delighted to be able to wear the Augsburg jersey again,” Ji told Augsburg’s official website. ” I want to be back to my best as soon as possible, and want to help the team achieve our goals.”

Augsburg sporting executive Stefan Reuter added: “When the window opened to sign Ji Dong-Won, we opted to do so because he can add additional quality to the squad.

“We know him, he knows us and we are sure that he, in this surrounding, will build on his top performances he has shown here.”

Augsburg are currently in sixth-place in the Bundesliga table, and are 12 points clear of Dortmund, who are currently sitting in the relegation zone.

Daehli to join Freiburg in January

In other news, Cardiff City have agreed a deal to sell former Manchester United starlet Mats Daehli to Freiburg when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Daehli, who joined Cardiff from Molde FK for an undisclosed fee in January 2014, was beginning to lose his first-place at Cardiff under new manager Russell Slade.
