Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos is confident he will agree a new contract with the German champions, despite failing to do so in recent talks.
The Germany international midfielder was reportedly close to joining Manchester United in the January transfer window, with his deal at the Allianz Arena due to expire in 2015.
While the 24-year-old conceded discussions with Bayern chiefs had not proved successful, he remained confident of his future at the club.
“Much has been written and there has been speculation, especially in the last few days, about my sporting future,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
“But you shouldn’t believe all that’s in some newspapers. Fact is I am very happy to play for Bayern and my position in the team is very good.
“Fact is also that we couldn’t agree a new contract but since it runs until 2015 this is not a big problem, and we will see what the future brings.
“My focus is on the sporting side of things and we will do everything possible to complete the season as successful as last season.”
Kroos has been a regular feature under coach Pep Guardiola this season, making 18 Bundesliga and six UEFA Champions League appearances.
