Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is confident that Dejan Kulusevski will remain at the club permanently when his loan from Juventus ends.
“He’s on loan but it’s like a deal ended,” said Conte. “He’s a Tottenham player, 100% in every aspect. Not officially but he’s 100% a Tottenham player.”
The Sweden international made the move from Turin to North London in January this year on an initial loan agreement set to run for 18 months, but Spurs have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer of 2023. Given the impact he’s had at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it stands to reason to expect the club to trigger that option without much hesitation.
Spurs were reportedly close to signing Luis Diaz from FC Porto, but Liverpool stepped in at the eleventh hour and hijacked the deal for the Colombian winger. Spurs then turned their attention to Kulusevski and moved quickly to complete the deal on the last day of January.
Since then, the 22-year-old has scored three goals and produced eight assists in 16 games in all competitions for Conte’s team.
