(GSM) – Liverpool’s season has seemingly gone from bad to worse after star Dirk Kuyt suffered a serious ankle injury in the Netherland’s 4-1 victory over Sweden in the Euro 2012 qualifier.
Kuyt could be ruled out of action until the beginning of next year after Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk stated fears over the forward’s injury, with initial predictions forecasting a possible long time on the sidelines for the former Feyenoord ace.
It is another huge blow for Reds’ manager Roy Hodgson, who had already seen defender Daniel Agger limp off the pitch during the first half of Denmark’s clash with Cyprus.
With Liverpool currently sitting in the relegation zone and a High Court judgement looming regarding the club’s ownership, the news of Kuyt’s long-term injury will only further spoil Hodgson’s debut season in charge of the Anfield club.
