Looking to carry on the post World Cup party, France will welcome a struggling Iceland side to the Stade du Roudourou on Friday night.
Starting with Didier Deschamps’s France side, after lifting their first World Cup trophy in two decades, Les Bleus have only gone from strength to strength. Putting four past Croatia in the final, the hosts are also unbeaten in their opening two UEFA Nations League outings. Now unbeaten in their last 13 matches in all competitions, a run stemming back to March, one man to watch will be PSG talisman Kylian Mbappe. Picking up the Young Player of the Tournament award over the summer, the 19-year-old also grabbed four goals against Lyon prior to the international break.
As for the visitors, after parting ways with long-term boss Heimir Hallgrímsson after a very disappointing run out in Russia, Iceland have now turned to Erik Hamrén to improve their recent form. Picking up just a single point during the group stages and finishing bottom, they are now coming off the back of a 3-0 loss to Belgium and a 6-0 drumming at home to Switzerland. Now with just one clean sheet in 2018, it’s hard to see Iceland pulling off a seismic upset on Thursday.
