Los Angeles Galaxy are in an awkward position right now. After reaching the Major League Soccer play-offs for the first time since 2016, they lost in conference semifinals to Los Angeles FC and since then they have been trying to do one thing – keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The legendary Swedish superstar is going to be out of contract at the end of 2019 and the LA franchise has been trying to find ways to keep him at the club for at least another year. He scored 31 goals in 2019 despite turning 38 a month ago, but now his departure apparently looks all the more likely.
LA Galaxy have reportedly set their sights on Mauro Zarate as their replacement for the apparently outgoing star, claim Football Italia. Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has reportedly picked ex-Lazio and Inter man Zarate as the face he wants to arrive next to his team, as LA Galaxy will have a huge hole to fill if Zlatan in the end actually leaves.
