Racing Santander’s winless run extended to six in the La Liga following a spiteful 1-1 draw with nine-man Valencia on Monday.
Argentine striker Ariel Nahuelpan put Racing in front after 33 minutes but as they tried to protect their lead in the second half, the match turned ugly.
Referee Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo dished out nine second-half cards, three of them red.
Valencia’s David Navarro was the first to be given his marching orders after receiving two yellow cards in a minute early into the second half but as the flurry of cards continued Alberto Costa bagged an important 78th minute equaliser.
There was still time for Valencia’s Ricardo Costa and Racing’s Mehdi Lacen to be sent off in the dying stages as both sides were forced to share the spoils in the entertaining draw.
