A Diego Alves own goal handed Real Zaragoza a 1-0 win over Almeria on Monday, lifting them out of the La Liga relegation zone in the process.
The first half at the Estadio de la Romareda ended goalless, but the home fans were sent into raptures when Almeria goalkeeper Alves got the final touch into his own net in the 70th minute.
Zaragoza finished with ten men after Ander Herrera was given a straight red card in the 90th minute, but it was too late to change the result.
The battle between the two strugglers in the Spanish top flight was always going to be hard-fought, and the loss leaves Almeria anchored to the bottom of the table, seven points from 19th (Hercules) and 10 points from safety with five matches remaining.
Zaragoza climbed to 16th courtesy of the win, moving above Malaga and Osasuna on goal difference.
The latter dropped into the bottom three, with five games remaining in the season.
