Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez has pledged his future to Los Leones by saying he is happy to stay at the club.
Spain World Cup star and one of the most sought after players in Europe says he is aware of the interest shown in him.
“I know there has been some talk of me moving clubs, but I’ve always said I want to stay here,” said Martinez after accepting the award ‘The Lion Heart’.
”I feel very valued here, both by the club and the fans. Athletic is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and when something is right, there is no need to change it. What I want is to be a Lion.”
This will come as a real blow to clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea, with the Premiership giants keen on the Athletic midfielder.
