PSV Eindhoven boss Phillip Cocu has confirmed reports linking the club with a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Zakaria Labyad.
The Moroccan footballer only left PSV last summer to join the Lions, but he doesn’t seem to have a future at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
With Zakarya failing to prove his worth last season, the club chiefs are eager to get rid of him in the summer transfer window, with his high wage proving to be a problem.
The player himself hopes to return to Dutch Eredivisie, where Ajax, Vitesse, Feyenoord and PSV are showing interest.
A return to his former club appears to be the most realistic option, with PSV boss Phillip Cocu hinting he would like to see Labyad at Philips Stadium.
“I think it is good to hear that players want to return to PSV,” Cocu was quoted as saying in De Telegraaf. “But, it’s too early to say whether this is going to happen.”
Prior to joining Sporting last summer, the 20-year-old enjoyed a very successful season at Philips Stadium, managing 6 goals and 7 assists in 32 Eredivisie matches.
