The representatives of Alexandre Lacazatte have asked for and held talks with the Arsenal hierarchy about the Frenchman’s future, the Mirror have relayed reports from France. The reason for that was the information they had received about Atletico Madrid being interested in Lacazette’s services.
Apparently, Atletico have identified the striker as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who told the Madrid club he wanted to leave Wanda Metropolitano some time ago and has been heavily linked with Barcelona.
Arsenal face a tough task of keeping both Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their ranks, especially given their failure to qualify for the Champions League for the third time in a row. There are players whom manager Unai Emery would be willing to offload in order to improve on his reported £40 million transfer budget, but the two forwards are not among those.
Meanwhile, the north London club have failed in their bid to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace so far, and face competition for their primary defensive target Kieran Tierney of Celtic from Napoli. They have, however, completed the signing of teenage Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli.
