Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with Atletico Madrid for a long time. As revealed by AS, there was some contact between the two clubs last summer, but in the end, no agreement was reached and the 29-year-old consequently remained at the Emirates. However, Atletico’s interest is still there and Lacazette wants to join, and there is now belief that a deal could be easier to conjure, providing the player himself does his part to help make it happen.
On the other hand, Lacazette still has two years on his Arsenal contract. The Gunners have added several players to their ranks this summer, but none of them are in the same mould as the Frenchman. A lot is expected to depend on whether captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signs a new contract as many believe he will, or not. If he doesn’t, Arsenal will likely block any potential attempt to take Lacazette away decisively, but they probably wouldn’t be too keen to let him go even if Aubameyang does sign.
