Guy Lacombe was named on Tuesday as the new coach of French First Division side Monaco replacing Ricardo at the helm after the club said they would not be renewing the Brazilian’s contract.
The 53-year-old Frenchman – who won Olympic gold as player at the 1984 Olympics – will sign a two year contract with the 2004 Champions League finalists.
However, they had a mediocre season under Ricardo this term finishing well out of contention for a place in Europe in 11th place – 35 points adrift of champions Bordeaux.
Lacombe – who like Ricardo previously coached Paris Saint Germain – had a year left on his contract with Monaco’s French rivals Rennes, who replaced him with Frederic Antonetti also on Tuesday.
