Bayern Munich full-back Philipp Lahm says his team are dreaming of reaching this season’s Champions League final.
Lahm acknowledged that Barcelona and Real Madrid have the edge over the other title contenders at present, but feels that anything can happen.
Bayern are all the more desperate to qualify for the showpiece given it is being held their home ground, Allianz Arena, on May 19.
“Knowing that the final takes place at our own stadium, our dream is obviously to make it there,” Lahm told L’Equipe.
“Barcelona and Real Madrid appear to be on another level to the rest, but anything is possible in a direct confrontation if we’re having a good day.”
Looking ahead to the second leg of Bayern’s quarter-final tie against Marseille, Lahm stressed that it is crucial for his side to put the tie out of reach for the French visitors.
Bayern hold a comfortable 2-0 cushion after the first leg at Stade Velodrome last week.
“I think that it will be very important for us to open the scoring,” Lahm said.
