Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm could return from injury for Saturday’s Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen.
Lahm played the full 90 minutes in Bayern’s 2-0 Bundesliga win over Schalke at the weekend, but ended the game with an inflamed knee, which forced him to withdraw from Germany’s squad to play France in a friendly on Wednesday.
He has recently been struggling with bursitis, and Bayern’s Dr Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfarht drained Lahm’s right knee of fluid after Sunday’s game.
The doctor has advised Lahm to rest, to avoid putting him at risk of missing out on Euro 2012, according to Bild.
However, the Bavarian club may well be able to include the 28-year-old in their starting line-up against Bayer Leverkusen in their next Bundesliga outing.
