Bayern Munich are on the verge of signing Hannover veteran Altin Lala, the player has revealed.
Speaking to Bild, the 36-year-old revealed that he has accepted an offer from the Bavarians and will move on a free transfer when his current contract expires in the summer.
“Yes, I have decided,” he said when asked about his future. “I will sign for Bayern!”
“I think that I’ll fly for a medical check-up in Munich next week, then I will sign. I am glad, this is great.”
In March, Bayern made an offer to the Albanian, who at the time was contemplating retirement.
And after weeks of deliberation, he opted to be part of an ongoing project to revamp the Bayern reserve side.
Thus far, Tobias Schweinsteiger (Bastian’s brother, 30) has been signed to improve the midfield, while ex-Bayern man Mehmet Scholl has been chosen to take the helm as head coach.
A defensive midfielder, Lala has played for Hannover since 1998.
