Adam Lallana is preparing to leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Liverpool Echo.
The midfielder arrived to Merseyside in 2014 as a part of the Southampton contingent, which also included defender Dejan Lovren and striker Rickie Lambert. Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk later followed the same path.
Lallana was a vital part of the club’s initial resurrection phase under the command of Jurgen Klopp, playing a big role in their return to the Champions League in 2017. However, injuries prevented him from moving forward in tune with the rest of the team and he slowly but completely lost his place in the starting XI. Klopp convinced him to stay on last summer, sensing that squad depth would be an important aspect of this season’s title race, and he also refused to allow him to leave in January for the same reason.
However, there will be no stopping Lallana from leaving this summer. At the age of 31, the versatile midfielder wants regular game-time which is something Liverpool cannot promise him. Both the club and the player agree on that, there won’t be any talks over a new deal. His services have reportedly attracted the interests of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Leicester City.
