A report from the Sun suggests that Stoke City are keen to sign Southampton goal-machine Rickie Lambert in the January transfer window.
It is thought that manager Tony Pulis will offer Kenwyne Jones as part of an exchange deal along with a transfer fee to try and bring the striker to the Britannia Stadium.
Lambert has already scored four goals in the English Premier League this campaign and has shown he is more than capable of playing at this level.
Stoke’s interest comes after reports that the Saints were happy to let Lambert leave and try to cash-in on him while his stock is at his highest. This news is not likely to go down well at St Mary’s as the forward has been key to the clubs success over recent years.
As for Jones, he is extremely out-of-favour at the Potters right now and seems desperate to move in the New Year to try and play some first-team football and reinstall his confidence.
It is certainly a story to keep an eye on and if Southampton are prepared to sell one of their star men and he keeps putting the ball in the back of the net – a number of clubs could come in for him.
