Norwich City manager Paul Lambert expressed his delight at his players after their convincing 3-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday.

Anthony Pilkington’s brace and a Russell Martin header secured the win in the English Premier League clash at Carrow Road.

Lambert said he was delighted with his team, who sit ninth and came close to taking a point from Old Trafford before Manchester United struck two late goals on September 1.

“It’s OK playing open, great football for the public who come to watch but also realise I’ve got to win,” he said.

“I hear the cliche that they’re a great footballing side but I thought we were great and I’m very proud of the team.”

“I’m over the moon with what they’ve done, not just this year but the last two years, they’ve been a credit to themselves and the fans have bought into it which is great.”

“We showed at Old Trafford we can give teams a scare.”

Meanwhile, Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers said he was happy with the way his players responded after going 2-0 down, including Danny Graham’s 12th-minute goal that brought the score back to 2-1.

“They had a terrific start today. I have to commend the players because we were 2-0 down before we knew it,” he told Sky Sports.

“We’re disappointed with the goals, but how we reacted to the game was terrific. We had some real good moments and chances.”

“We got ourselves into the game at 2-1, but ultimately we didn’t defend well as a team today and the basics of the game.”
