Lambert defends Bent decision

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has defended his decision to loan record signing Darren Bent to Brighton and Hove Albion despite his side being the lowest scorers in the Premier League, according to Sky Sports.

The Midlands side have netted just six times in the league so far this season – two less than nineteenth place Burnley five fewer than bottom of the table Queens Park Rangers.

Bent has barely featured in the league under Lambert over the past eighteen months, with his last start coming in the 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic on the final day of the 2012/13 campaign.

Only Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann have scored for the Villains this season, though Lambert has backed his decision to temporarily part company with Bent, who has over one hundred Premier League goals to his name.

Villa travel to Burnley on Saturday afternoon and are 5/2 to take all three points.
