Lamela set for Tottenham stay

French daily newspaper Le Phoceen understands that Argentine midfielder Erik Lamela is unlikely to move clubs in the winter.

The attacking midfielder was close to joining Marseille on a season-long loan in the summer, but Spurs ultimately pulled the plug on the deal.

And while OM could launch a fresh assault ahead of the January window, they are unlikely to succeed in their quest.

Namely, Lamela has finally started proving his worth at White Hart Lane, and manager Mauricio Pochettino believes the 23-year-old has a lot to offer to his side.

The Argentina international has enjoyed a prolonged run in the Spurs team, starting last 7 Premier League fixtures and scoring in big wins over Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth.

Lamela also has a long list of admirers in Italian Serie A, having largely impressed while playing for AS Roma, but it looks as though he will be staying at White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future.
