Lampard accepts he may have to move on

Frank Lampard believes that his 11-year spell at Chelsea could be drawing to a close and that he might be on the way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer, Mirror Football reports.

The England international has had a glittering career with the Blues, but he is out of contract at the end of the English Premier League season and at 34-years-old, does not look like being offered a new deal.

Rafael Benitez has hinted in the past that Lampard could be heading out of Stamford Bridge this summer and the player himself expects to be leaving.

“I’m a Chelsea player as simple as that. I’ve had a great, great time here. But maybe things don’t last forever. Although I want it to last forever you have to be big enough to know what it is,” he said.

He has been linked with a move to the MLS or even China, where he would follow in the footsteps of former teammates Nicholas Anelka and Didier Drogba.

However, it seems as though Lampard still believes he can play in top flight in England and Arsenal could make a shock move for him.

He would of course be allowed to talk to clubs in the January transfer window, and a pre-contract agreement could be made.

A number of Premier League clubs are sure to monitor the situation of Frank Lampard.
