Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested that Frank Lampard’s loan stay at the Etihad Stadium could be extended, according to the Independent.
The 36 year old scored his first goal for the Champions in dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon, grabbing a late equaliser against Chelsea, the club he served with such distinction for thirteen years.
He put pen to paper on a deal with New York City in the summer, but with their pre-season not commencing until mid-January, was loaned to the Manchester club.
However, he could remain in the Premier League until early February, meaning that he could face his former club once again when the sides meet at Stamford Bridge on January 31st.
Lampard could make his second City start in tomorrow’s Capital One Cup clash at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
The holders are joint favourites, with Chelsea, to retain their trophy and can be backed at 9/2.
