(GSM) – Frank Lampard wants to continue playing for England but his future remains uncertain after their humiliating 4-1 defeat against Germany in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
It was England’s biggest ever defeat to Germany but Lampard has no intension of quitting international football. He will turn 36 during the next tournament, in Brazil in 2014.
The Chelsea midfielder said: “I want to carry on with England. I think there will be a lot of talking, not just about me. It’s important players go away and don’t listen to it.”
He continued: “The talk is great for the people who are involved in that sort of thing but it doesn’t actually make any difference.
“We’ll try and carry on, that’s what we have to do.
“Only one team wins the World Cup and the rest go home at some stage and don’t win it so the talking is by the by.
“We’ll have to come back and try and perform.”
The Blues star was not prepared to comment about the ‘Golden Generation’, he stated: “You know what, I don’t really want to talk about it at the moment.
“We will worry about that when we start again.”
