Efe Ambrose has had his contract with Scottish Premiership club Hibernian cancelled in January due to a clause it contained, and he has been training with Derby County since then.
Derby boss, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has praised the efforts of the 30-year-old defender. What he has seen in training is a tall, strong, quick and versatile defender, capable of doing a good job both as a centre-back or on the right defensive flank, who likes to get on the ball.
As Sky Sports have relayed, Lampard also believes Ambrose wields a suitable character, always useful to have around regardless of the output on the pitch. However, whether the Nigerian will be offered a contract to become a Rams player now depends on whether he can reach the required level of fitness in time. It’s also important for him for both the player and the club to feel that the fit is good, and he stressed that nothing has been put on paper yet.
