The Mail Online understands that Frank Lampard will remain with Manchester City for the remainder of this season after his loan deal from New York City was extended.
The former England midfielder, who retired from international football with 106 caps in back in August, joined up with Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the summer and has impressed with six goals in seventeen appearances across all competitions.
Lampard’s deal with City’s sister club NYC was set to commence on January 1st, but will now stay in Manchester until the summer, and is eligible to face Sunderland in the New Year’s Day’s fixtures.
Prior to this season, the 36 year old spent thirteen years at Chelsea where he broke the club’s goal-scoring record with two hundred and eleven goals in six hundred and forty-eight appearances.
With Lampard’s former club not playing until later in the day, City can move level on point’s with Jose Mourinho’s league leaders with victory on Thursday.
