Lampard urges Cole to stay

Chelsea ace Frank Lampard admits he is hoping that team-mate Joe Cole will sign a new deal with the club.

Cole’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and the midfielder is yet to agree on a new deal.

The former West Ham star has been linked with Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United in recent weeks.

“Joe’s a fantastic player and I really hope we keep him, and I think that goes for everyone at the club,” he said.

“I don’t know Joe’s personal position with the club but I’m sure that the club want to keep him and the players want him to stay.”
