Athletic Bilbao starlet Aymeric Laporte has welcomed the reported interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.
The 19-year-old stopper has impressed fans and pundits alike with his performances over the last year or so, and he has in turn seen his name linked with a number of high-profile clubs.
Latest reports have suggested Barcelona are seriously considering a bid for his services, and Laporte admits he is proud to be linked with such a great club.
“The interest from Barcelona makes me happy because when you are little, you dream of playing for big clubs,” the youngster told RTL.
Basque radio station Euskadi Irratia has revealed that the Catalans are even prepared to match the player’s €36 million release clause, and Laporte has refused to rule out a move to Camp Nou.
“They would be willing to match my €36 million clause? I do not know, frankly I cannot say anything.”
Aymeric Laporte was only handed his senior debut in December 2012, but he immediately managed to nail down a regular starting berth.
The talented footballer has made a total of 33 La Liga appearances for los Leones, scoring 2 goals in the process.
