Jamal Lascelles has penned a new six-year contract with Newcastle United, according to the Independent.
The twenty-four-year old passed one hundred appearances for the North East club at the tail end of last season while he has featured in all but one league game this season.
The former Nottingham Forest man was handed the club’s captaincy at the start of the Championship winning 2016/17 campaign while he finished the term being named in the division’s PFA Team of the Year.
Newcastle drew 0-0 with Southampton at the weekend – a result that extended their winless run to ten league games and was their third stalemate of the campaign.
They are currently off the bottom of the Premier League on goal difference with Huddersfield Town’s over twice as bad.
Next up for Rafa Benitez’s side is Saturday’s visit of Watford, and the home win can be backed at a price of 31/20.
