Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga feels that he has acclimatised to life in the Bundesliga.
The 20-year-old made his professional debut in the 2.Bundesliga last season, with his 13 goals helping earn Hertha promotion to the top flight.
He has continued his form this season, hitting nine goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the capital club this campaign.
“Now people recognise me,” he told Transfermarkt.de. “I am now on the level that I can say I’ve arrived in the Bundesliga.”
The Germany Under-21 international then revealed his desire to one day represent his country at senior level.
“It is a dream for any player to play in the German national team. And I can say quite frankly, this is my dream,” he said.
However, Lasogga believes that the time to think about a call-up is yet to come: “I know I must work hard,” he said.
Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz – himself a former striker for the club – hailed the youngster’s progress and was relieved that the club managed to extend the striker’s stay in Berlin to June 2015 last year.
“We renewed his contract for so long because Pierre is an incredibly hungry, very gifted player who tries to make progress every day,” he said.
