French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that Inter Milan are closing in on former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra.
The 29-year-old has been searching for a new club over the last few months, having been released from his contract at Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer.
Diarra was widely tipped to join a Premier League side, with QPR and Spurs showing interest, but he ultimately failed to return to England.
L’Equipe has now suggested that Inter Milan are ready to offer the former France international a chance to return to the big stage.
The Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini met with Diarra earlier this week and chances are that the Serie A side will soon complete a deal for the highly rated midfielder.
Inter plan to offer him a six-month contract that would also include a clause where Diarra’s contract would be automatically renewed if he features in a set number of games.
