Denmark remain alive at the UEFA Women’s Championships, having earned their first three points with a 2-1 defeat of Ukraine.
The Danish went ahead four minutes into the second half as Nadia Nadim directed the ball into the path of Camilla Sand Andersen, who then struck it past keeper Baranova for 1-0.
The Ukranians, who just like their opponents had lost their opening game and were desperate for a win in this one, equalised two minutes after the hour. Poor Danish defense allowed Ukraine’s Vira Dyatel to cross in for Daryna Apanaschenko to head home.
But the Scandinavians were to clinch the victory, netting the winner at three minutes from the end. It was Maiken Pape to score after an assist from Johanna Rasmussen.
Denmark are now third in this group, Ukraine remain last.
