Championship side Swansea’s chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed receiving an undisclosed bid from Wigan, for Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland.
Martinez has been linked with the 30-year-old, , who scored 24 goals in the Championship last season, after taking over at Wigan last month.
While, Premier League newcomers Burnley had a £1million bid for the player rejected, Martinez firmed up his interest with an offer.
It is likely Swansea will hold out for much more, especially after the stance they took over compensation for Martinez’s backroom staff when he made his move to the Premier League club.
Scotland did not travel with the Swansea squad to Portugal on Monday, although Jenkins insisted that it was merely due to the a groin injury.
However, the Swans chairman has now confirmed he has received an undisclosed bid for the player.
On Swansea’s official website the club stated they received the offer at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.
“We have now received a formal offer from Wigan for Jason,” Jenkins said.
“We will consider the contents of the offer and respond accordingly within the next few days.”
