Wigan Athletic have reached an agreement with Hamilton Academical for the transfer of Scottish U-21 midfielder James McArthur. Accies chairman Ronnie MacDonald announced on the club’s official site that the McArthur deal was done and dusted subject to the player passing a medical at the DW Stadium.
The fee for the transfer has not been announced, but reports suggest it is somewhere in the 400,000 pound mark.
McArthur joined Accies in 2004 and has made over a hundred and fifty appearances for the club so far.
McDonald expressed hope that McArthur would be able to replicate the success of former team mate James McCarthy, who also moved from Hamilton to Wigan last season.
