Grzegorz Lato, the head of the Polish Football Association, is being investigated by police over allegations of corruption.

Polish sports minister Joanna Mucha flagged up the alleged offences on Friday, asking prosecutors to look into secret video and audio recordings involving Lato last year.

The tapes are believed to indicate that a criminal offence has taken place, something Lato strongly denies, with the former Polish international claiming his innocence to the nation’s media.

On the PZPN Football Association’s website, Lato has declared his ‘full co-operation’ with the investigation.

The alleged claims of corruption come as Poland are due to co-host next summer’s European Championships with Ukraine.
