Swansea manager Michael Laudrup insists there is more to come from new signing Michu after the Spanish midfielder’s dream debut.
Michu announced his arrival to the Premier League with an opening day double in Saturday’s 5-0 rout of QPR.
The midfielder signed for the Welsh club from Rayo Vallecano for two million pounds.
“He gives us a lot. When we have the ball he is a second striker; when the opposition have the ball he is the third midfielder. It’s a very important position for us,” Laudrup told reporters.
Laudrup exploited Rayo’s difficult financial situation to seal Michu’s signature in the close season.
And the Dane feels now is an ideal time to buy high-quality players at affordable prices from La Liga.
“You can get a lot of quality for a reasonable amount in Spain right now,” he said.
“We are talking about players who have played at the highest level. There are some small differences in style between the Premier League and La Liga, but they are the two best leagues in the world.”
The 26-year-old Michu struck 15 goals in the Spanish top flight last season and was the league’s highest scoring midfielder.
