According to AS, Michael Laudrup turned down the chance to replace Julen Lopetegui as the new manager of Real Madrid. The former Real star most recently spent time managing over in Qatar, with reports suggesting that he was at least interested in discussing the possibility of taking over as the new boss at the Bernabeu. Alas, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as the uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at the club continues.
They appear to be hellbent on going down the route of employing a former player one way or another, in the wake of the success that Zinedine Zidane enjoyed. That could be a risky tactic in more ways than one, though, and if they continue to fall down the ladder under their new boss, who truly knows how long it could be before they rise back up and become one of Europe’s finest clubs once again.
