Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi could become the next high-profile footballer to move to China, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
Namely, even though it looked as though the Argentine will remain at Parc des Princes until the end of the season, he has all but agreed to join Shanghai Shenhua.
Lavezzi has accepted a two-year contract worth €10 million per campaign, but now the two clubs need to agree on a transfer fee.
Chinese clubs have until 26 February to recruit new players, meaning there is plenty of time for Shanghai Shenhua to complete the deal.
Paris Saint-Germain will probably jump at the opportunity to earn some money by selling the player who would leave on free at the end of the campaign, but they might decide to keep hold of Lavezzi at least until 16 February, when the Saints face Chelsea in the Champions League first knockout stage.
