(GSM) – A goal 10 minutes from time by Klemen Lavric was all Sturm Graz needed on Sunday to claim the Austrian Cup title in a 1-0 victory over Wiener Neustadt in the final.
Sturm Graz were seeking their fourth Cup title and first since 1999 while newly-formed Wiener Neustadt was attempting to win the hardware in the club’s first year of existence since Wiener Neustädter and FC Magna merger in July.
It was a tense affair for much of the game in Klagenfurt, but the boys from Graz got the final say in the 80th minute when Slovenia striker Lavric blasted one home past countryman Saso Fornezzi in goal.
Sturm Graz’s defense held on for the final 10 minutes to hand the club its first hardware since completing the domestic treble (Bundesliga, Cup and Supercup) in 1999.
