Valentino Lazaro will suit up in Hertha Berlin blue this season, according to a report from Sport Bild, joining the German team on loan from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.
The 21-year-old, Austrian-born player will come in nursing an ankle injury and will not be available to start the season for the Berliners. Once he becomes fit, and should Hertha like his performance, they have the option to buy Lazaro with a release sum of €5 million.
Lazaro has spent the majority of his career with RB Salzburg, appearing in 87 games for the defending Austrian champions and scoring 11 goals for them. In his tenure with Salzburg, the young attacking midfielder has won the Austrian Bundesliga a total of five times in his six years with the club.
Now he joins a squad that has been building up with promising young players to help Hertha stay competitive in the Bundesliga. Young talent coming into the squad are names like 22-year-old Davie Selke who joins Berlin from the German Red Bull team, RB Leipzig, and Dutchman Karim Rekik who comes into the squad from Ligue 1’s Marseille.
