Another weekend of Italian football has been and gone and it’s safe to say that Serie A has the potential to be one of the most exciting leagues in the world this season. Of course, there’s still a long way to go, but the early signs are good as we continue to venture through this bizarre period of time for the beautiful game.

Yesterday we saw two of the country’s finest lock horns as Lazio and Juventus went to war, and in the end, they wound up sharing the spoils. Today, we’re going to list a few things we’ve come to learn from the result.

Caicedo’s undeserved equaliser?

It honestly feels like Felipe Caicedo has been around forever, and when he has able to equalise for Lazio in the 95th minute, it would’ve been hard to find many non-Juventus fans that weren’t happy to see both the goal and his immediate reaction. Still, even though it was nice to see, you could definitely make the argument that it was undeserved. Juve largely seemed to be in complete control throughout and went through long phases of not being tested, but when the moment came to strike, Caicedo took it.

CR7 has still got it

With six goals in his last four league games, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to prove why he is still one of the best players in the world right now. Whenever Juventus find themselves in a bit of a pickle the Portuguese sensation is on hand to get them out of it, and even though he isn’t viewed as being in his prime anymore, he isn’t showing any signs whatsoever of slowing down.

Serie A competitiveness is back

Juventus are priced as the 7/4 favourites with 888sport to win the Serie A title once again this season, but as of this writing, they are in fifth place in the table and are four points off of leaders AC Milan. Now we all know this is a marathon, not a sprint, but any Juve fans who try and pretend that this isn’t concerning are simply kidding themselves – because this league is on fire right now.
