Lazio agree to sign Italy World Cup keeper

Lazio are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Federico Marchetti from Cagliari, Il Corriere dello Sport understands.

The Italian giants are looking for a new keeper after Fernando Muslera rejected a new contract offer.

Seeing that Muslera’s current contract expires in June 2012, the Biancocelesti are planning to cash in on him this summer.

Lazio have reportedly already found a replacement for Muslera, having agreed personal terms with Cagliari’s Federico Marchetti.

The Biancocelesti plan to match the player’s €5.2 million release clause, but they compete the transfer only after Muslera finds a new club.

Marchetti, who took part it 2010 World Cup with Italy, has been dropped to the reserves last summer after rejecting a new contract at Cagliari, meaning that he hasn’t played a single official game last season.
