Serie A giants Lazio have moved to confirm that they have reached an agreement to sign Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt from AZ Alkmaar.
The Biancocelcesti have long been in talks with the Eredivisie side after agreeing personal terms with the youngster, but they were unable to secure his signature in the January window.
Hoetd will instead join Lazio when his contract at AZ Alkmaar expires at the end of the current season.
Lazio spokesman Stefano De Martino moved to confirm the deal earlier today before the news was published on club’s Twitter account.
“Hoedt is going to be a Lazio player from July 1st. On that date he’ll be able to wear the Biancocelesti jersey,” De Martino confessed to Lazio Style Radio 89.3.
Wesley Hoedt, 20, has only made 14 first team appearances in his career, although he nailed down a regular starting berth at the start of the current season.
Lazio scouts seem to have been impressed with his showings, and the youngster will now soon be moving to Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer.
