Lazio have confirmed they plan to hold talks with Inter in order to decide the future of forward Mauro Zarate.
The highly rated Argentine joined the Neroazzurri on loan last summer and has had mixed success during his time at Giuseppe Meazza.
The 25-year-old was mostly restricted to substitute appearances in the first part of the season, but his status changed when Andrea Stramaccioni took over the reigns.
The Argentine has since been regular in Inter’s starting line-up and has scored several important goals.
According to their agreement with Lazio, Inter have an option to make the transfer permanent for €16 million and the Biancocelesti are adamant the asking price will not be lowered.
“As things currently stand, that fee is not negotiable,” Biancocelesti sporting director Igli Tare told Radio Mana Mana.
“However, there will soon be a meeting with Inter to get a better understanding of his future. We’ll see.”
Zarate, who left Lazio after falling out with boss Edy Reja, has scored 2 goals in 21 Serie A appearances, while scoring one goal in 7 Champions League fixtures this term.
