On Wednesday, Lazio suffered another defeat to add to their agony. At their own Stadio Olimpico, the Romans lost 1-0 to Cagliari. Plagued coach Davide Ballardini blames himself for the painful loss. “I feel responsible for some of this.”
Lazio only gathered four points in their last eight Serie A matches and are ranked fifteenth, just one point above the relegation zone. Ballardini thinks the result against Cagliari wasn’t deserved.
“The result doesn’t do us justice,” Ballardini told Corriere Dello Sport post-match “But we must re-start with the will that the side demonstrates to have inside it.
“It is right that when things don’t go your way, you protest, even on my front.”
The Aquile’s poor form caused protests earlier this week when ultras stormed the training ground. Ballardini now considers a Ritiro: a training camp away from the chaos at their own training ground.
Organisation and better house keeping is needed, and the former Palermo coach thinks that calm surroundings are also important.
“We will evaluate this option and we will probably go to Norcia in Umbria,” the coach told the press.
“My players have never held back, but if we want to work with serenity then this may be an option. If it was down to me I would never go into ritiro, but it could be a solution at certain times.”
