Lazio have confirmed they are hoping to sign CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda before the transfer window closes in January.
The Biancocelesti have enjoyed a pretty good start to the season and they are eager to remain competitive by signing a couple of more players in January.
The Italian giants have been searching for another creative midfielder in the light of injury to Stefano Mauri and they have been linked with a move for Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda.
Lazio sporting director Igli Tare now reveals that the club are indeed interested in signing the CSKA star.
“Honda has everything that is needed to be a Lazio player,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia.
“We know perfectly well what we need to do between now and when the transfer window closes.
“We are looking to sign an important player and not just any old player. We’re certainly in no panic.”
The Biancocelesti have already made a formal offer for the player’s services, but the two parties are still far away from reaching an agreement.
Lazio want to pay €2 million for the loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the transfer permanent for additional €10 million.
However, the Russian club would rather sell the player outright and they are thought to be asking between €14m and €16m.
