Lazio have been dealt a major blow after striker Miroslav Klose picked up a serious thigh injury in training.
Edy Reja’s men are in a good position to clinch the final Champions League place in Serie A, sitting a point above Napoli in third.
But they will have to fight off Napoli’s challenge without the Germany international for at least four weeks.
Klose flew directly to Munich to get a second opinion on the problem, and Lazio doctor Stefano Salvatori revealed the 33-year-old’s injury is serious.
“I do not think that it is a slight injury,” Salvatori told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Miro and I are very concerned.”
However, the injury is not expected to hamper Klose’s aspirations of playing a part in his country’s Euro 2012 campaign in June and July.
