Lazio defender Modibo Diakite has received an offer from Russian Premier League side Terek Grozny, the player’s representative has revealed.
The French defender has just one year left on his deal at Olimpico and he was dropped from the squad after refusing to extend his deal.
The player’s representative, however, admits they are not surprised by the club’s controversial decision.
“We were expecting that, considering they bought Michael Ciani and clearly the contract situation affected the decision,” Ulisse Savini told Radio Sei.
Savini also revealed that they had received an offer from Russian club Terek Grozny.
“Yesterday we received a proposal from Russian side Terek Grozny, who spoke directly to Lazio President Claudio Lotito, but we have no intention of moving to Russia.”
The French defender began his professional career at Pescara, but he was soon spotted by the Lazio scouts and made a switch to Olimpico after playing just one game for the Delfini.
Diakite has spent last six seasons with the Biancocelesti and he was on the verge of establishing himself as a first team regular before the aforementioned contract dispute.
The 25-year-old has made a total of 65 appearances for Lazio, scoring 2 goals in the process.
