Lazio eyeing Brazilian defender

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Lazio are readying summer bid for Atletico Mineiro captain Rever Humberto Alves Araujo.

The Biancocelesti have made signing a central defender their priority in the summer transfer window and they seem to have made the Brazilian stopper their primary target.

Lazio had shown interest in Rever some five years ago when he joined Wolfsburg on a loan deal from Gremio, but he returned to Brazil without making a single league appearance for the Wolves.

A move to Atletico Mineiro kick-started his career and the player went on to establish himself as one of league’s top defenders.

He led the Brazilian giants to the Copa Libertadores title in 2013 and it appears he is finally ready for a new spell in Europe.

Rever has a contract until June 2018 with Atletico Mineiro and should be available for a fee close to €5 million in the summer.
